He was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, attending elementary school in Central Washington, high school on the Kitsap Peninsula, and college at Western Washington University. After graduating from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1992, he began his practice in Hawaii where he handled a variety of motor vehicle tort claims and construction defect claims. He returned home to Washington and continued to defend parties in complex multi-party claims including lawsuits involving construction defects, work site injuries, premises liability, commercial disputes and civil rights violations. While in law school, John worked as an intern at the Thurston County Prosecutor’s office where he successfully tried multiple criminal cases to a jury.
